George has been a partner at Thatcher + Hallam since 2012, and works in our Private Client Department. George is a Specialist in drafting Wills, Probate/Estate Administration, and in litigation relating to Contentious Estate matters and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. He is also the Partner with overall responsibility for our Family Department.
George advises on a wide-range of ‘private client’ issues, on a day to day basis, which allows him to develop strong relationships with clients, local businesses, and professional organisations. He finds particular satisfaction in supporting clients, and their families, where they may be experiencing difficult or troubled times following the death of a loved one.
He also acts regularly as a professional Trustee and Executor, including as a Charity Trustee.
As well as leading the Wills, Probate + Tax Planning team George has a number of other roles within Thatcher + Hallam, including being the SRA www.sra.org.uk Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (“COLP”), the Money Laundering Compliance Officer (“MLCO”), and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (“MLRO”), and the Firm’s Data Protection Officer (“DPO”).
George is also responsible for complaints, client care, risk management, file management, firm wide standards, policies, and Lexcel https://www.lawsociety.org.uk/topics/firm-accreditations/lexcel.
Qualifications: Undergraduate degree, The University of Birmingham (completed 1999), Post Graduate Diploma in Law, The University of Sussex (2000), and Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, The University of Westminster (2001), admitted as a solicitor in 2004, joined Thatcher + Hallam in 2010. Qualified as a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP www.step.org ) in 2011.
