Paul has been a Consultant at Thatcher + Hallam since 2020, and is a specialist in Commercial, Corporate and general Business matters.

Although based in South Wales, Paul has very strong connections with the locality.  His mother was born and brought up in Ston Easton.  For many years Paul himself was the senior partner in a law practice with offices in Cheddar and Cardiff.

After being admitted as a solicitor in 1975, Paul’s substantial experience has always encompassed commercial / corporate work.  He acts on behalf of clients in the sales and purchases of shares in companies and of the assets in businesses.  He drafts and advises on shareholder agreements and partnership agreements.  His own experience in owning and managing legal and property businesses is invaluable in giving general commercial and business advice.  After stepping down from his own practice, for 10 years Paul was a Consultant in a large regional commercial law firm in central Cardiff.

Paul’s previous experience has included substantial litigation work, and he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.  This provides him with a view as to how commercial matters might develop if they become contentious.  Paul has acted in a large number of reported cases including the important House of Lords appeal as to employees’ rights in insolvent companies in Paramount Airways.  He also acted for many clients in the Public Inquiry into paediatric cardiac surgery at Bristol Children’s Hospital and subsequent claims against the Hospital.
