Museum Set To Open On Sunday
14th Aug 2020The award-winning Somerset Coalfield Life at Radstock Museum has announced that it is set to re-open its doors this coming Sunday. Several other local museums in Somerset have also announced that they are re-opening this week.
Dr Nick Hall is the Chairman of Somerset Coalfield Life at Radstock Museum.
‘We are absolutely delighted to be opening on Sunday,’ says Dr Hall. ‘All the major display areas will be available to view and the refurbished Alex Hann Gallery upstairs has six mini-exhibitions, including a newly-created brief history of the Spanish ‘flu pandemic which hit this area in late 1918 and again in early 1919. Some restrictions will be in place, and visitors are required to wear face coverings unless exempt. However, all of our volunteers will ensure that every visitor enjoys a very warm welcome back to the Museum!’
One of the Museum’s community partners are local solicitors Thatcher + Hallam LLP. George Persson is a partner at the firm.
‘This is fantastic news for everyone in the locality,’ says George. ‘We have our Museum back! This really is a great morale-boost to everyone and I know that this is only happening at all because of the enormous work and effort that has been put in by both the Museum’s officers and volunteers. It would be great if as many of us as possible are able to respond to the re-opening by once more going through the doors of the Museum. Huge congratulations on what the Museum are doing in these most challenging of times.’
