Local Charity We Hear You Fundraising Challenges

James Weller, who is currently completing his solicitor training with us, has committed to not one but two big challenges in 2022, in order to help raise funds for the local charity We Hear You.  We Hear You are currently Thatcher + Hallam’s Charity of the Year and James will be doing a skydive, as well as taking part in the Bath Half Marathon as part of the firm’s fundraising efforts. 

Who are We Hear You? 

We Hear You provide therapeutic support to children, families and friends of those with cancer or other life threatening conditions and work across the local area, including in Midsomer Norton, Frome and beyond. 

Why fundraise for We Hear You? 

James said “Many people reading this will know of a loved one, be it family or friend, who has experienced cancer or another life threatening illness and will understand the emotional toll it can have on everyone involved. The mission of WHY is close to my heart personally and I really hope the money I raise can go some way to supporting people when they most need it.” 

James is neither a fan of heights, nor known for being a runner. So taking on both of these events really poses a challenge for him. 

“I am really uncomfortable with heights’, explained James, “and I have what some might call a reluctant attitude towards physical activity, so choosing these two challenges has surprised a lot of people. I’d hoped that my running career would be short lived but the half marathon has been postponed from May to October, which has prolonged my training, which of course I am thrilled about!” 

Gemma Wilkes is the Fundraising and Communications Manager at We Hear You. “We are delighted to be Thatcher + Hallam’s Charity of the Year and thrilled that James is tackling these two very different challenges. Fundraising like this is vital for us a small, local charity, where every pound really counts and goes towards supporting local people.” 

What is James doing to fundraise for the local charity? 

James will be doing a 10,000 feet skydive on 12th June and will then take part in the Bath Half Marathon on 16th October. He has set a fundraising target of £1500 and if you’d like to support him and donate to We Hear You you can do so here via his JustGiving page.
