Estate + Tax Planning: Supporting Fatstock and Local Farmers

23rd Dec 2024 Estate + Tax Planning: Supporting Fatstock and Local Farmers

We have supported local rural and agricultural families in areas around Midsomer Norton, Bath and Frome for decades. It is a pleasure to serve generations of the same families with their legal needs as they go through life both personally and commercially.

Agriculture is an important component of any community, and this is why every year we sponsor the The Fatstock Show in Standerwick

The annual Fatstock show is an event hosted annually at Frome Market is a historic local event that has taken place since the late 1800’s. It is supported by The Richard Oatley Foundation and auctioneers; Frome Livestock Auctioneers and Cooper and Tanner.

When attending Fatstock we see first-hand the close relationships that exist within local farming, and as a community focussed law firm we are delighted to be continually involved.

The variety of people we meet at Fatstock each year is certainly the most enjoyable aspect. From local farmers to our friends in the property industry, it’s always nice to have a catch up or to put a face to a name of those we haven’t met yet!

This year we had the honour of sponsoring the The Sainsburys Cup Class 2 Best Steer of Continental Breed and George Persson of our Wills and Probate Department, Laura Kellaway and Matt Thorne of our Conveyancing Department handed over first prize to Laura Bodman of Knights Leaze Farm, Urchfont, Devises.

How we can help.

We understand that with recent planned changes to inheritance tax for farming families there is a lot of apprehension. Thatcher + Hallam are here to guide you through this uncertain period and help you feel assured that your estate is set up and planned for properly.

We know that farming is a demanding profession which leaves little time for life and estate planning, so we can meet with you at your farm at a time to suit you.
