Community + Charity: The Sperring Trust
24th Sep 2024The Sperring Charity offers financial support to the people of Midsomer Norton and surrounding areas. It is the generous legacy of Ralph Sperring, who left his estate to benefit the community that he loved.
Ralph was a local builder and carpenter who with his sister, Irma, owned several houses in the local area. Ralph passed away in 1989, and as his sister passed earlier in 1978, he left his estate in trust to benefit the local community. Since The Sperring Charity was founded in 1990, it has supported hundreds of local people with grants ranging from £50 to £5,000. The Sperring Charity considers applications for financial assistance from any local club, organisation, school, community group or individual in need of support.
Though Ralph left his houses to benefit the local community, the range of grants awarded have varied over the years. From helping local schools with sports kit and stages, to helping young persons with their Duke of Edinburgh Awards, and contributing to church roofs and libraries, The Sperring Charity will listen to and consider applicants who require a helping hand.
If you would like to know more about how the Sperring Trust can help or would like to make an application, then please visit our website and we will be happy to consider your application.
